Traveling Through Time: A Journey at Our School's Wax Museum

Our school recently hosted an extraordinary event that transported attendees through the chronicles of history. Themed "Traveling Through Time," the wax museum featured an impressive array of famous figures from various eras, including Socrates, Hedy Lamarr, the Tuskegee Airmen, The Beatles, and Serena and Venus Williams, among others.
Student Participation and Preparation
Students took on the roles of these historical and contemporary icons, creating detailed posters that included photos and memorable quotes. Each student also prepared a 2-3 minute speech, embodying their chosen figure and sharing their significant contributions to society. The dedication and creativity of the students were evident in their presentations, which brought these influential personalities to life.
Event Day Activities
On the day of the wax museum, the entire school had the opportunity to explore the exhibits. Visitors engaged with the presenters, participated in a "Famous Influential People" Jeopardy game, and enjoyed bingo games that tested their knowledge of historical figures. Additionally, exhibits of vintage toys and communication devices provided a nostalgic glimpse into the past.
Community and Educational Support
Our partners in education, the 2nd Distribution Support Battalion, played a crucial role in the event. They facilitated various activities, interacted with the presenters, and offered invaluable support to our student learners. Their involvement added a layer of excitement and engagement to the day.
Facilitators of the Event
The event was expertly facilitated by Vanessa Coleman, the AAPS and Creative Thinking teacher, and Lacey Boggs-Elliott, the school's Information Specialist. Their dedication and organizational skills ensured the smooth execution of the event, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Creative Thinking Contributions
The Creative Thinking students also made significant contributions by designing and creating board games that highlighted famous people, inventions, and inventors. These interactive games not only entertained but also educated participants about the remarkable achievements of these individuals.
A Memorable Experience
The "Traveling Through Time" wax museum was a resounding success, providing a unique and immersive educational experience for all involved. It was a day filled with learning, creativity, and community spirit, leaving a lasting impression on students, staff, and visitors alike.
