The ELA8 classes of Dr. Kay, along with her co-teachers Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Stoffa, recently transformed their classroom into a vibrant arena of learning and competition. In preparation for their unit test on S.E. Hinton’s classic novel, “The Outsiders,” students participated in a highly competitive game of Jeopardy.

The classroom was uniquely set up vertically, adding an extra layer of excitement to the activity. Students were not only engaged but also displayed remarkable teamwork throughout the game. The competitive spirit was palpable as each team vied for the top spot, answering questions that tested their knowledge and understanding of the novel.

One of the most notable aspects of the game was the participation of students who typically shy away from speaking in class. These students took on lead roles within their teams, showcasing their knowledge and boosting their confidence. The game provided a platform for all students to practice their oral communication skills in a fun and supportive environment.

This engaging and challenging activity not only helped students review key concepts from “The Outsiders” but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and collaboration. It was a testament to the innovative teaching methods of Dr. Kay, Mrs. Morrison, and Mrs. Stoffa, who continuously strive to make learning an enjoyable and enriching experience for their students.
