The visit was a heartwarming experience for both the students and the residents. The students bonded with the residents, putting smiles on many faces and creating lasting connections. This activity aimed to bridge generations, allowing students to learn from the rich experiences and the wisdom of the residents while fostering meaningful connections.

This initiative supported the WICOR strategies of Writing, Inquiry, and Collaboration, and also promoted several beneficial outcomes:

  • Intergenerational Learning: Students gained insights from the life experiences of the residents.
  • Empathy and Compassion: The interactions helped students develop a deeper understanding and compassion.
  • Communication Skills: Engaging in meaningful conversations enhanced the students' communication abilities.
  • Career Inspiration: Learning about the residents' former careers inspired students in their own career aspirations.
  • Building Relationships: The visit helped build strong, meaningful relationships between the students and the residents.

In addition to the enriching conversations, the students also brought gifts for the residents, including blankets, socks, toiletries, and stuffed animals, further brightening their day and showing the spirit of giving and community.
