BMS Sixth Graders Discover Fossils at Onslow Beach

On a sunny day, the sixth graders from BMS embarked on an exciting study trip to Onslow Beach, perfectly timed to coincide with low tide. This trip was the culmination of their recent unit on "Life on Earth" in their Science class, and it provided a hands-on opportunity to explore the concepts they had been studying.Â
Arriving at the beach, the students were greeted by the ideal conditions for rock and fossil hunting. The low tide revealed a treasure trove of remnants waiting to be discovered. Armed with enthusiasm and curiosity, the students spread out across the beach, eager to uncover the secrets hidden in the sand.
The day was filled with sunshine and excitement as each student diligently searched for fossils. Their efforts were rewarded as every single student found at least one fossil, including some fascinating shark teeth!
The trip not only reinforced the students' understanding of the subject matter but also ignited a passion for science and exploration. It was a day of learning, discovery, and fun, leaving the students with memories and knowledge that will last a lifetime.
As they boarded the bus back to school, the students couldn't stop talking about their finds and the thrill of the hunt. The study trip to Onslow Beach was a perfect example of how hands-on learning can inspire and educate, making the subject matter come alive in a way that classroom lessons alone cannot achieve.
